Primary storage, also known as volatile memory, is not designed to store data permanently. It is designed to store data temporarily while the computer is running. When the power is turned off, all data stored in primary storage is lost. To store data permanently, secondary storage devices such as hard drives or solid-state drives (SSDs) are used.
